Freeriding Mayrhofen Zillertal
Back Ahead

Mayrhofen offers great freeriding conditions for all powder enthusiasts.

Deep powder lines!

Mayrhofen Skigebiet

Can you think of anything better than leaving the first line in untouched snow? Freeriders will be greeted by perfect conditions around the Wanglspitz and the Unterbergalm, which are both easily accessible via our lifts.

Before you venture into the backcountry, however, always remember that this is alpine terrain and that safety should be your number one priority. Therefore, freeriders should always check the weather and the avalanche conditions and take along the necessary equipment, including an avalanche beacon, a shovel, a probe, and a first-aid kit. Please note: Going off-piste is always done at your own risk and no liability will be accepted by the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen!

For all freeride enthusiasts we recommend the SAAC Camps, where experienced mountain guides and professionals will provide you with important information and valuable advice.

Roman Rohrmoser

Roman Rohrmoser

Born and raised in the Zillertal, Roman Rohrmoser discovered his passion for skiing at a very young age. He was an alpine skier until he was 15 years old. In the following years, however, he was drawn more and more to skiing fresh powder and finally realized that he wants to be a freeskier.

At the beginning of his freeskiing career he took part in various freeride contests but later decided to concentrate more on working with professional photographers. "Just freeskiing" was his motto then and now.

As we can see in his fantastic photos, the path chosen was definitely the right one. Big production companies such as Warren Miller Entertainment USA, Nimbusindependent.com or Junkies on a budget want to work with Roman.

With numerous video and photo projects, Roman has the opportunity to ride at the most impressive places from Canada to Japan. To recharge his batteries after months of travelling around the world, he regularly returns to his home resort Mayrhofen im Zillertal, which is still one of his favorite freeride spots!

Always remember: This is alpine terrain!

Mayrhofen im Zillertal

Apart from good preparation by checking the avalanche situation and the terrain, every freerider should take his avalanche beacon, a backpack with probe and shovel as well as a helmet and a back protector with him.

The safest way to explore our backcountry is to hire an experienced mountain guide.
