Many roads lead you to roam – climbing up the Penken

Prefer life on the vertical rather than hurtling down the mountain? Prefer getting about on all fours rather than meandering through meadows on foot? If you do, then Action Mountain offers tworock climbing gardens’ with more than 60 climbs to try out your skills. The Gschöss and Knorren climbs will test mind and body, especially the arms and legs.
Gschöss offers more ambitious climbers 21 routes, ranging from Grade 4 to Grade 8 in difficulty. Knorren offers the same variety, from beginners to advanced.

  • Climbing Area Gschöss for sportive Climbers:
    21 routes – Difficulty levels 4 to 8
  • Climbing Area Knorren for beginners and advanced:
    30 routes – Difficulty levels 4 to 8+
Since last year visitors to Mayrhofen can also enjoy care-free, safe climbing on the ‘Climbing route for everybody’, before moving on to steeper climbs. There are also four climbing schools with plenty of instruction on grappling your way up the mountain. You can rent the equipment for free at the mountain station of the Penken 3 seated lift.

More information on the routes can be found in our special rock climbing guide which is available at all lift ticket counters of Mayrhofner Bergbahnen (only in german). Using our climbing park is always at own risk!
